Decorator Maureen Lawton of Cottage Chic Décor has moved to a brick and mortar!

The shop consists of cottage and coastal chic style furniture and home décor. Vintage accessories, textiles, barware, lighting and art work is also be showcased. Home specialties such as candles, soaps, nautical keychains and some holiday décor are also featured. Maureen has hand picked her team of talented artists, friends and locally sourced artisans to collaborate with and be part of the team.

Furniture artists Brittany Behrmann of Velvet & Pine and Molly Silvia of Meadow Ridge Designs supply the shop with beautiful pieces transformed from yesteryear to today. Talented Artists Alexandra Jedrey Fine Art and Kaitlin Owens showcase their coastal work in their own magical spaces. Tracey Lee Michaelson of Painting Daisies Photography supplies her beautiful canvas mini’s on a pedestal and Christmas ornaments. All Southern Rhode Island of course! Tracy and Jorge Vargas of TJ Craft Wood Designs are also part of the team with their custom designs of recycled wood furniture, coastal trays, shelves, charcuterie boards and much more!

Maureen’s love of home décor and antiques began when she was a teenager. Her Mom always had antiques in the home that she mixed with new. Maureen would go picking with her mother and frequent antique shops as well. One of those antique shops was in the very space where she now opened Cottage Chic Décor! She always said that someday she would like to open a shop in that adorable little house on Main Street. Well, the stars aligned and “it all just sort of happened” she said. She has previously had two spaces in other shops in CT for many years called Moe’s Attic. She moved to RI permanently 4 years ago and had just bought a Vintage camper that she turned into her traveling showroom. “At age 63 I still have the passion but shows are very hard when you are hauling furniture and lots of other stuff around.” I think everyone loves this building in Wakefield and are so glad to see something happening in it again. We are all very excited and looking forward to creating and providing beautiful pieces for your home.
